      Hollow Fiber Membrane Technology

      As a technology-driven filtration company, Cobetter has invested a lot of fund and technology to successfully develop hollow fiber membrane. The outer diameter of this kind of membrane is usually between tens to hundreds microns, and micropores are evenly distributed on its surface. Based on this structure, the lateral flow filtration other than dead end filtration can be realized, which can be applied to analytical?degasser for dissolved gas removal. Cobetter has developed PP, PMP and PTFE hydrophobic membranes with different characteristics to meet the requirements of various applications.


      Advantages of PMP Material

      PMP Material: Polymethylpentene, belongs to category of polyolefin polymers.

      ·  Polyolefin material has chemical resistance property same as PP.
      ·  The molecular structure endows PMP with superior air permeability.
      ·  PMP material has great hydrophobicity (low surface tension).
      ·  PMP can withstand liquid with surface tension above 35 Dyne/cm.

      Weaving Method And Flow Channel Design

      How to make thousands of tiny fiber membranes into a complete filter is also a test of technology. Cobetter's weaving process makes the degassing membrane into an array, then it will be wound into a cylindrical shape and put into the membrane shell. This technology expands the effective contact area of degassing chamber. At the same time, each fiber membrane is fixed and will not move with the flow of liquid, so as to eliminate broken phenomenon of degassing system and ensure the stability of the membrane contactor.


      The inner structure of Cobetter's degasser is equipped with a baffle and a central tube for water distribution, which makes the liquid form a jet state on the surface of the degassing membrane, and effectively improves the de-bubbling efficiency between the shell side and the lumen side.











      Degassing Membrane Function And Working Theory

      In medical industry, the water used in the pipeline already has high enough purity, but the dissolved gases (such as O2, N2, CO2, etc.) and visible bubbles in the water will be generated in various environments, or react with reagents, causing inaccurate sampling. These gases are bound to cause great interference to the micro quantitative medical test, especially the clinical test results.

       

      The function of gas exchangers is to remove the gas attached to the solution and eliminate the interference to the detection process and results. In a typical operation, the liquid flows outside the membrane, and the membrane is vacuumized or purged with gas. There are many micropores on the surface of hydrophobic membrane, which allow gas to pass through but prevent liquid from penetrating. The gas continuously moves to the inner part of the hollow membrane through the micropores and is taken away, so as to achieve aeration and fluidic path degassing.
